gun runner john what is your price on install of cruse commander m, puffing smoke, and 4 chuff/ per rev and turnaround time on this.

This is a beautiful locomotive - I acquired a used one some years ago (had the drive joint fixed already) and it was a very smooth runner with the early Odyssey system. The smoke was a little weak but that is easily corrected.  Great whistle too.

First off, the Odyssey lurch can be fixed with the CC-M, but if it's running jerky after it gets powered up and moving, my guess is you need to work on the mechanics.  Drive rods are a frequent source of issues, perhaps something rubbing inside, hard to say.

It's useful to include the exact Lionel 6-xxxxx number if you want specific questions answered on the locomotive.  It makes it easy to look it up.

I'd use 20-30 drops to start, I can tell you for sure with the standard smoke unit that one has that 8-10 drops are not nearly enough.

If 6-28051 it is 27 ohm smoke fan and ODY 1.  G

I have this engine and it does not have the Odyssey lurch issue. What you are seeing is possibly a drive train problem. They are know to have spinning / free wheeling universals due to a need for a added drive pin.

Mine actually had a cracked universal on the forward drive truck unit. At the time there was no parts available, however, with the new release you should be able to acquire one.  I had to use the Allegheny drive shaft and modify it a bit... but it works!

Thanks for the help.  I aam going to get the cruse commander m put in.  This engine was built on 11 of 2000 and has the very early oddessy.  Ken from electric rr looked it up for me and will also need to have the extra wire for the r2lc sent along.  also going to do the mike reagon smoke fix.

This is a beautiful locomotive.  Have one and need to get it on the tracks for a run.  Would benefit from an ERR upgrade to be sure.
