** NEWS RELEASE**

** Dongguan, China. April 1st 2013. ** Important announcement by the world leader in model trains.

It is announced today that Lionel trains will be manufactured and marketed by Bachmann Industries under the 'Lionel by Bachmann' brand.

Due to consolidation within the model train manufacturing companies within China, and the quality issues that have arisen from those remaining outside of those owned by Bachmann industries, an opportunity has arisen for Bachmann Industries to take a greater role in the production of superior model trains.

In the deal announced today, all Lionel products will be manufactured exclusively by Bachmann and the range will be split into 2 major divisions. The high end Lionel products will be sold under the 'Lionel by Bachmann' (LBB) brand, and all lower level items will become a part of the 'Williams by Bachmann' brand.

This step has been hailed as a major advance for the hobby in general. Buyers will now be able to choose between the 'Lionel' brand models with features such as Legacy control and other high-end features, or the 'Williams' brand for high quality models without command control fitted as standard. (Upgrades to Legacy control will be available for these models in the future.)

In addition to taking control of the Lionel train manufacturing, Bachmann Industries in association with the government of China, will also take over the NASCAR brand and operation. This will be renamed PLASCAR in honour of the new owners.

Dr. Imjo K'ing. Dongguan, China.

I think this is great! I hope this means the prices will come down. Consolidation can only be good for us right. I mean look how many more products we have for the Kline consolidation.

Maybe this post won't get me shouted down by experts.

Nice try, Nicole!

Too bad you didn't put this up mid-February.  The ensuing hysteria would have been a laugh riot.

If B makes L stuff, it might come true someday!

B's parent company was manufacturing Lionel product before they acquired Williams. Once Kadar Industries acquired Williams, Lionel transfered their business to other manufactures in China.

Nice job but, I don't think anyone will ever top what Frank 53 done about for or five years ago. The story sucked everyone in including myself. In fact the moderators pulled the plug on it  because they were fooled along with everyone else. Frank 53 would you post that again.
