Lionel Caboose 6517 for year 1957? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Hi I am looking for a really nice Lionel postwar 6517 caboose ... I just want to make sure for the year 1957 which version to get the under score or the one not... I know they say late and early in the book but every one I seem to talk to say they are not sure what is the early or later referring to... Thanks for the info DANiel

I checked both Greenberg and Doyle set books. In 1955, Greenberg states that the caboose was underscored. For 1956, the caboose was a carry-forward item and may surface in a Middle Classic box. In 1957, a late classic box was used. For Doyle, the caboose was not underscored in 1955. In 1956 both versions were produced. For 1957, the caboose did not have underscored lettering.
