Lionel can not offer only Santa Fe.

This is the Santa Fe 86' auto parts scheme that I would have liked, but I will have to wait for other railroads to be made first.

Santa Fe sells...period. In  every catalog or not. Whether everyone likes SF or not, it sells. In every scale, all the time, and most of the time, it SELLS OUT!

I guarantee you, with this new BTO system, a lot of these funky road names Lionel put in this new catalog will NOT be made due to lack of orders. The only thing in the new catalog with Santa Fe on it, is a Lion Chief engine.... now that is a marketing mistake. If you want to sell something in the toy train or model railroading world, sell a Santa Fe. 

This Santa Fe variation with the Super Shock Control to the right of the doors was the common scheme in the 1990's. The people at Lionel apparently can only get the factory in China to make so many schemes and road numbers each year. I have to wait for the next cycle of production.

You can always paint and decal yourself. That's a very easy paint job to do.

There is another small 8-door 86' high-cube series. It looks like another 6-months or more of waiting for the delivery of the first 8 roads until they get to Santa Fe.

There would need to be a source for White and yellow Super Shock Control decals for the first group of 86' high-cube boxcars.

Are you trying to say that an Elgin, Joliet and Eastern SD38 won't outsell a Santa Fe F7?

There are more Santa Fe 89' auto carrier schemes. It looks like all the other railroads will have to get made before they come back to the 1970's era big Santa Fe version.

Buy it, paint SP, Lehigh Valley, CP, CN or Pennsylvania. Like the prop guy from Conan, Bill Tull always says: "Boom! New train car."

MicroScale has only HO Scale and N Scale Santa Fe box car decals.

To add the Super Shock Control graphics, it will have to be a custom order.

I don't mind the large amount of Santa Fe, but I would buy more if Lionel offered less Pennsy and B&O and instead offered Montana Rail Link, Milwaukee Road, Soo Line and other.   Won't happen, though.

Glad I wasn't the only guy to think this.  I want more AT&SF steamers (Actually any would be nice as I don't even have one yet.)  but have had to pick SP as Lionel has only made big steam in SF where I need O36 locomotives.  But in the meantime, I'm picking up the SF rolling stock as I have the money and come across it.

That's what I'm doing to update my car for the 90s. Sanding off the "Auto Parts" lettering has been unusually tedious on this one, though.

Lionel's approach to these is a little curious. They complement the auto racks, many of which are in post-1993 paint jobs, yet the box cars are made primarily in 1960s era schemes (probably because they are though more colorful).
