lionel f3 replacement body shell

Matt,used bodies are available. In my opinion, I say do not mess with those Southern engines and find another used set to paint up. They are expensive engines now and not that common to find.

I was on Ebay last night and saw a Texas Special 2245 B unit, shell only.  Don't recall any pricing information.

I was looking for some shells several months ago and posted in the WTB forum here.  Had a prompt response and bought two previously repainted A shells for a project.

I also bought a Texas Special A unit shell and complete B unit that a member posted in the For Sale section for another repaint project.

So, I've had good luck here on the forum.

I'll follow this thread and hope to see someone post who has a line on good PW repro unpainted shells.

Good idea to keep your SRR shells; I have my childhood 2356 AA's w/OB's and carton; and, wouldn't consider using them as donor shells.

I was hoping maybe some had been made already in c&nw colors, as I am not the best painter, but im sure I could do it.  I have no intention of messing up the srr bodies, like I said they are pretty nice.  I wouldn't think just changing the shell would effect the value too much if I keep the originals

Has anyone put a modern era shell on a postwar chassis?  How did it fit?  I don't see a lot of difference but their is some

Most, if not all the shells made in the 70's thru the mid 90's will fit the frame.  All those shells use the same design as the shells from the mid 50's...
