Just a weak magnet I guess

Make sure that the plate that should be glued to the door isnt stuck to the magnet.... 

I've had a couple of these panel holding magnets be stronger than the cheap chinese glue.

I'd check to make sure the door mates properly so the magnet contacts the metal plate on the door.  If there's a gap, it'll appear very weak like you are experiencing.

Check to see if the door closes and the magnet is what stops it, if not that's why it flops open. Pretty easy to check the magnet strength with a piece of steel or small screw driver. Do like these things where you don't have to pick up and turn locomotives over to adjust settings.

Agreed, but it usually is easier with the access panel on top versus the side. But beggars can't be choosers.

After closer inspection, it appears the inlaid piece of metal that belongs glued to the door was stuck to the magnet.  I just pulled it off, cleaned of the old glue and re-glued it.  Thanks guys for the tips!

I will check this once the glue dries from gluing the metal piece back onto the cover.
