Thanks to Marty Fitzhenry who turned me on to this beauty !

Sorry, I'm excited.

I have that loco by K Line, which is very nice, but without all the extra amenities. Yours is a beauty. The whistle sounds almost like a shay, and the chuff at upper volume sounds like a hydraulic press slamming down on a raw sheet of steel!

Don

The chuffing sounds are really very good. I have lots of great chuffing locos.

The basement is now empty and the Fastrack on the tile floor echoes loudly. In addition, the Vision sound reefer was thrumming. I also had the camera close to the loco on the tile floor so there were more echoes.

If if there was a lot of scenery absorbing sound or reflecting sound back to the camera microphone, it would have been better. I did not do a good job recording the sound.

Man, tell me about it!  Has to be the strangest sounding exhaust I've heard.

The combination of that engine and car racket requires immediate action.

I am so conflicted.

An intervention is necessary.

When a see a great huffing and chuffing loco spewing smoke like this little beast does, I have absolutely no self control. I went straight to the telephone. Right out of the box this loco was a winner. I didn't even take the time to oil and "fluid" the stack. Just like a little kid with no patience.

I just received three other locos. I got an MTH Triplex, a Lionel Legacy Y6-b, and a Lionel Legacy 4-12-2. The loco on my loop of track is the B-6. I just love this thing.

Going to Houston to the Narrow Gauge Convention. More and more, I think these large hi-rail locos are what I love.

John, that's only because these dealers ordered "extra's" beyond pre-orders backed with real customer orders.  Some dealers are already sold-out on some of the models.  But I give some of Lionel's dealer network credit for having the guts to gamble on stocking up a few of these jewels for folks who want to order them AFTER they see them.  Lionel doesn't want to take the risk anymore, so it's now up to the dealers to incur the risk.

I pre-ordered the Polar RR B6.  And was so pleased with the result, I ordered another model in the Pennsy livery with yellow handrails on the tender.  Had dealers ONLY ordered based on customer pre-orders, I wouldn't have been able to order a second B6.  And from the looks of postings here, many other folks wouldn't have been able to order even one B6 after the fact, if dealers hadn't ordered "extra's".

It will be interesting to see how many of these little jewels show up at dealer booths in York this October.

For anyone still sitting on the fence about these, here's a tip.  Model Railroader just sent me a bunch of coupons, one of which is 10% off of most purchases at Trainworld.  The coupon code is CC0826.

I used this a few days ago to purchase my B6 at a very good price.  It should be here tomorrow.

I placed the order by phone to confirm the coupon would work, and it did!  But the coupon expires September 1, so don't dilly-dally.

Chuck

It really is a great little loco. I don't recall paying much less for my original K-line b6 back in 2003.

Considering that these smaller scale locos still have all of the same electronics and almost all of the features of the larger locos (minus a few wheels and a few square inches of boiler casting), the pricing seems pretty reasonable...........or the pricing on the big locos are just super inflated.

However, you choose to view it.
