Dandeo50: I have over the past several years acquired the Wabash, SP Bloody-Nose and N&W TrainMasters. None of them have the MOTORIZED turning fans that existed on the CenturyII club TrainMaster Demo set units.

Better recheck your Wabash. Mine had motorized roof fans.  Talking about FM, back in 1998 Lionel cataloged a diecast FM switcher,  a very cool engine   Anyone know why they never offered it again??

You folks might want to be aware that the real locomotives are called Train Master, as the term "Trainmaster" is really a manager of Conductors & Trainmen.

Why don't you stop harassing people here and tell it to Lionel?

You're the only one that's confused about what we're talking about.  I bought the Lionel Trainmaster, says so right on the product page.

What is funny though is Hot Water is right... just a little obtuse about it...

Obtuse??????     Just how was I supposed to sugar-coat it?

Concerning Lionel's continuous error in their catalogs, is THAT the only error they have made over the decades?

HW, I think you should join the grammar police, you'd be a natural.

Grammar has nothing to do with it. Simply trying to educate modelers on the PROPER names of locomotives.

Unfortunately, there are too many modelers who can't or don't want to use proper terminology.  The incorrect use of gauge and scale is a classic example.  If they can't get that right, I wouldn't expect them to use the proper term for a locomotive if a manufacturer can't do it.

I need to reply to all the posts here since I am the culprit that have some in a quandary about this FM Train Master issue; to whit:

JC642 - Thank your for your post. I popped the shell off my Wabash and did indeed find that the cooling exhaust fans are indeed motorized; mine have never run until I re-seated a loose connector. I also did find reference to them in the TMCC section for buttons 8 & 9. The old "read the instructions stupid" advice bites again....

Dandeo50 - In an effort to provide the CORRECT information this time, I popped the shell off my N&W to find there is indeed NO motor provided (+ the required geardtrain) to motorize the cooling exhaust fans on this variant. As gunrunner john has already said, his Reading does not have them. These two units + the Southern, SP, and Canadian Pacific were all cataloged in the 2014 Signature edition catalog. I would therefor deduct that all of that catalog's production units do not have motorized cooling fans.

Hotwater & ECD15 - I try to use the correct terminology, but sometimes haste gets in my way I suppose. I answered this inquiry in mid-evening without totally ensuring I had the Train Master terminology correct which is my mistake. I used the instruction manual + outer box spelling in haste-they both have it wrong. I will try not to repeat my errors in the future.
