Lionel M-7 light bulb conversation to LED | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Hi

This is what found when I took apart my Lionel M-7 passenger car to start the LED conversation. There is a chip on the roof of the car that connects to the regular light bulb. I have done MTH passenger cars and never seen anything like this any suggestion on how about going doing the conversation to LED? Do I just bypass this and install the Gunrunnerjohn special LED systems or is there more to this than meets the eye?

Given a guess I'd say in operates a command feature, supplies anti-flicker power (capacitance), or regulates bulb power (voltage?). If the power on the bulb leads is enough, you should be able to tap in there to possibly retain an off on control feature. Overall, John would definitely be the holder if the best answer here sans-meter research.

That's a regulator module. If you're going to use my regulator board, all of that goes.
