I have worked in fields where a mistake could cost someone their life. That mistake could cost you your career and everything you own.

I fail to see the nexus between that and toy train couplers. You're really taking it to the extreme. Just my opinion.

Catalog mistakes? Every manufacturer has done and continues to do that. It happens all the time in many fields. Shop elsewhere? Like MTH? Whoa. When it comes to catalog errors, they've made some doozies over the years.

Keep in mind that people our age that can afford to spend big bucks on trains are almost history. The days of a kid with a paper route buying a Lionel train are gone.

Already cancelled my order. Now doing research on other brands, Lionel can keep their trains. Tired of fixing their "mistakes".

I don't see the relationship between the 'people our age" and "paper route kid" statements, and milk car couplers.

Well, press on. But cancelling your order and vowing to never buy another Lionel train, because of a catalog picture about coupler thumbtacks, sure seems to be a classic example of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Since Lionel has an advertising staff, it would be an easy fix. Since they know, and haven't corrected the problem, speaks for itself. Dishonesty is not "a little problem/mistake". Already cancelled my order.  Now doing research on other brands, Lionel can keep their trains. Tired of fixing their "mistakes".

Good luck finding a company that doesn't make mistakes. Lionel does it,  MTH does it,  Atlas does it, even GGD/ 3rd Rail do it. Now who are you left with???

The trucks haven't been changed over the last run. Tabs in the catalog images are a mistake.

Dave - that is good news. Do you know when Lionel will reverse its decision to abandon its industry leading and best in class die-cast sprung trucks and couplers with hidden uncoupling tabs and replace them with the inferior trucks and thumb tack couplers? The vast majority of Lionel customers and your top dealers eagerly await this decision. Thanks partner.

That's a heck of an exaggeration. What it comes down to, is it was a simple mistake. If you've never made a mistake in your job, then go ahead and judge them, but they didn't intentionally show the wrong thing. It was just an honest mistake. I think we've all made a million of them. You can cut them some slack.

When it comes to quality in a product that I am buying, I don't cut anyone slack. For example, if a Lionel freight or passenger car is pictured and described as having die cast sprung trucks and couplers with hidden uncoupling tabs and when delivered actually has inferior couplers and thumb tack couplers, back it goes to the dealer.
