The 2 rail reviews weren't scathing - scale oriented guys are just concerned that when Lionel chose to use some common tooling for two different designs of 50T twin hoppers (GLa and USRA hoppers have different height, length, end sills, rib profile, and truck location) they may have missed the prototype accuracy mark as compared with other outstanding Lionel models like the Lionel PS1 box cars and PFE R40-23 reefer.  When I have one in hand I'll post side by side photos with scale dimensioned brass GLa and USRA (PRR class GLd) hoppers and readers can decide for themselves if they would like one or more on their railroad.  I suspect most 3 railers will like them, while 2 rail SPF's like myself will wish Lionel chose to model just one of the 2 prototypes.  As a side note the AtlasO USRA twin hopper is a pretty accurate model.
