Apparently Lionel is out of stock of smoke levers for the 2001 series 2-10-4 type engine with mechanical smoke units.  Attached is a repair I did when the lever breaks at a point with lever left on both ends.  THe lever is a cast piece and seems to be prone to breaking.  Basically I sleeved it with an Aircraft type Rivet.  I removed the stud, counter drilled for a easy fit.  Filled with epoxy and slide rivet on lever and installed broken piece.  Added some external epoxy also.  Could have used a brass 3/16" tube, but this harder aluminum rivet was an easy fit.  Hope this helps other who may have same issue.  Much cheaper than going to a fan driven smoke unit (though that would perform better).   So do not throw away those broken levers!  G
