All,

I recently purchased a Lionel 6-29893 vision stock car. I was running it this morning, and the car derailed. I rerailed the car, however and the loading and unloading sequences would not stop no matter what I would do. Then the "quilling cow" would not stop "quilling."

Is this a board problem?

Do I have to send the car to Lionel?

The antenna is good because I still have some control over the quilling cow.

Thank you in advance.

I'd like to be sure its not a problem with the remote sending spurious commands, although presumably this would cause other products to misbehave in a similar way.

Please try this little test and report back:
turn off power to the layout.
Unplug the power to your command base.
Make sure there are no locomotives on the track that might take off, then turn track power back on.
Roll the car along the track by hand and tell us what sounds it is making.

I have one where the EOT device has never worked and I forgot about it so I imagine it would cost me more to send it in to fix than just live with it.

if etd wired like the first edition vision line tank sets I had same issue it was a broken wire where the power roller and a small 2 wire connector connects I think it was the power roller wire that had broken away from solder joint so i pulled more wire out so truck would pivot freely and re-soldered the wire and its been working fine.

may not be your issue but its worth looking at !

WARNING: ENTERING DANGEROUS TERRITORY! Please sit back, get a drink, and try to comprehend what I am about to tell you.

Yesterday: Time 10:30 AM. Stock car acts like this cattle car.

Time now 11am. After leaving the car for a half hour, I regain control of functions, however sound is garbled.

I then take the car apart and "fiddle" with the speaker. Fortunately, I knew my way around the car because I installed a battery in the car earlier in the week.

Sounds then return to normal.

I believe, when I was running the stock car before the issue, a car derailed and did something to distort the speaker. Theories are welcome.

Thank you for your help and listening to my rant.

Nickstrains.

P.S. I have the same EDOT issue. Any fix? I saw no loose wires.

What was wrong with it?  I had an issue and it was a programming problem.  All other functions worked.

The ETD does not light at all. What would be the programming to change this?

OK, thanks Nick.

If the car is stationary and you hear occasional "ka-klunk" sounds and occasional cow mooing, the problem is the car "thinks" it is in motion. You could try re-seating the wiring connectors between the main sound board and the little board that is mounted under the truck next to the axel magnet. If you continue to experience intermittent operation--sometimes it works right, sometimes not, I'd recommend contacting customer service.

When I hit the aux2 button the end light will blink once but not operate.

I'll have to do some research and get back to you.  IT was a long time ago.

I did take out my meter yesterday and the on/off switch checked out fine. Was there a software issue with these cars where the ETD did not work as expected?

Yes.  I am unable to locate the info but there was a reset code.  I want to say ENG# set AUX1 Then 5 .

Thanks everyone! The reset code 5 did the trick! I am very happy since I really like this car but the ETD had never worked until today! Thank you to everyone!
