So one of the members of the AGTTA of San Diego has a private layout at his home which members have helped him build for at least 10 years. His 3rd level(upstairs, in the attic)has a TMCC System that needs help because the person who hooked it up hasn't showed up to demonstrate how it works properly. The TMCC System is hooked to a Lionel ZW-1000 transformer. Now my question is why does my RGS Galloping Goose #7(30-20160-1) not operate properly? This meaning that it will power up sounds and lights but it won't move, it will just sit their? This maybe a dumb question to ask because there is no pictures. Unfortunately I can't take photos because the wiring is hidden under the layout so far that finding the transformer is complicated.

Thanks

Hi Tim

Is the Galloping Goose a RailKing? When you program the engine with the TMCC, you must tell it that it is DCS. If I remember correctly, this type of question comes up during the program process.

Hope this helps.

Barry or Gun Runner John are the top modelers on this topic.

Not to nit pick, but the ZW1000 is an MTH Transformer. As for the RailKing question, yes Galloping Geese are RK. They came either as conventional or PS-2/3. I'm assuming since you're referring to TMCC, you're trying to run in command control. While you can run Lionel TMCC engines with the MTH DCS, you cannot run MTH DCS with TMCC.

Gunrunner John has done TMCC conversion of 'Geese, but again I'm assuming you do not have one.

It may be locked in neutral.  John has given you the method to unlock it.  But it works best with a pure Sine wave transformer with bell/whistle button as stated.  Not sure which transformer/ controller you are talking about, but typically TMCC can not activate the w/b sequence fast enough to reset the engine.  If the transformer is a Z-1000 MTH with the controller, you should be able to do it.  Set voltage around 10V when doing it.  G
