Looking for a Motor for MTH 0-6-0

Bill, Is this a RK version?  Which motor frame 385?  Does yours have the flywheel that comes off with setscrew?  G

George it is a Railking, the motor is mounted horizontally. Ill get back to you with the number,

no the flywheel is not removable.

is it possible to pull the worm gear off?

Frank Timko at timkorepairdepot.com is a great source for replacement motors. He can even swap the gears and the tach sensors.

The gears are usually pressed on with Loctite, so they must be heated to remove them.

I'll second the Frank Timko.  He did a small motor for my K-Line 0-6-0.  He can pull and reset the motor worm gear and flywheel, complete with tach strip, on a new motor for you.

The other motor was the BE-99.  At least when I did one 2 years ago,  That may be obsolete now, but some one may have that motor.  As I remember some had removable flywheels and others did not.  I will look at the old one but I don't think it had a worm.  Wasn't it driven off the flywheel with dog bone.  G

 I was thinking of emailinf Frank Timko to see if he can put the worm gear on a new motor.  unless removing the work gear is something that I can do? have you done it before

Hello. I have a motor, I don't know if it will fit your loco, the number on the tag, besides the RS385rh, is RD-513404. The motor has a flywheel for a tach reader, the holder for the tach reader. The motor has a gear that is 7/8" long, and about 1/4" thick. The overall length of the motor is a smidgen less than 3". I took a photo, but my computer won't recognize the photo chip, which has done many times before. If this sounds good, LMK and I will try sending the photo tomorrow.
