Looking for obscure Lionel motor

Got a hit on smitty and Lionel 6008005100, which has a Mabuchi number.

Thanks Moonman, but that is just the motor by it's self, no worm,as he states it as no pinion gear. Maybe 8005-103?

Page 49 of this catalog has one RC-280 at 12v on page 49. Higher rpm, no worm.

I ran into this issue 20 years ago, but here's what I remember.

The worm gear is available as 8005-147. (It looks like Trainz and Brasseur have 'em.) I can't remember if I found the correct motor or if I had something that was "close enough," but I was able to get the worm extension onto the motor without any major problems. The motor shaft itself is fairly short, and the worm is one long extension on the end of the short shaft.

It looks similar to Lionel parts #6308661100 (RTR 0-8-0 locos) and 710069100  (Hall class 4-6-0), which are the same motor but have slightly different size worms but have a flywheel.    

I work  with these motors a lot.  It is possible to both remove/add flywheels and change worms/pinions, etc., if you have the right gear-puller tools, etc. I do that occasionally.   If you can't find the part, you might try that route.

Found the part. Richard Smith, Smitty's toy train parts had them.

Did you need the motor or the worm? I'll keep him for future reference. After I contact you first.

He has the worm gear. I have several new motors without any gear on them and the worm gear pulls off the shaft with just a pair of side cutters.
