I'm wanting to see a video on atlas o gp15 engine without tmcc and with tmcc. I looked on youtube found none and on the internet. I'm wanting to get opinions on the two. I have a choice to get one without tmcc and one with tmcc thru plubic delivery track for a great price.

I don't have a video, but I have the conventional one that I bought from a friend.  He had sent it to me previously to have TMCC installed, and when I ran it conventionally prior to the conversion I recall it ran great.  The detailing is pretty nice for the price and it's got plenty of power.   If you have the option of getting the TMCC one, it's definitely worth it

I'd get the GP15 with TMCC because you can either run it in conventional or command mode. I have a couple Atlas Master Line diesels (2 Western Maryland SD40s and a Chessie System-C&O SD40) and they run great and look even better!

 

I've bought from the Public Delivery Track and Beth and Rachel are great people-very helpful and cooperative.

When I place my hand near the trucks of my Atlas engines after they've been run for 30-45 minutes I can feel heat coming from them. The long hood near the rear motor and the cab where the front motor is housed are both warm as well.

 

It doesn't take long for them to dissipate heat, though. After about 10 minutes they're fine but just for the heck of it I picked up a locomotive after running it and felt the underside of the truck block. It was almost hot to the touch.

For what it's worth, I have a Lionel TMCC SD40-2 that does the same thing.

 

My LEGACY SD40-2s run cool all of the time.

 

My Atlas TMCC and Lionel TMCC engines have all 3 axles geared for each truck. My LEGACY locomotives have 2 of the 3 axles geared. Perhaps this might explain the heat build up in my TMCC engines.

 

It's never really been an issue for me. They're great pullers and I did check the worm gear on one of my Atlas engines and it was well lubricated from the factory. I make sure the axles are lubed and the geartrains are greased per maintenance procedures.

 

I think if it was a problem there would be more posted about it.

Drop the trucks from the motors and grease the gear boxes. Sounds like they're dry if the trucks are getting hot.
