Where does that double wire go toward the left? Usually the antenna wire secures to the two hand rails that pass thru the shell insulated and come together to a single connection that plugs into the mother board. The radio board is in plain sight on the right, upside down plugged into the motherboard. There is a single wire plugged in the motherboard to the right of it. Where does that black wire go? If that double wire has the two wires going to the handrails, then the end you are lifting up with the pencil goes to the mother board somewhere. The upside down radio board is where it eventually goes...thru the mother board traces.

The broken connection should be on the end of a white or black connector plug...or on the end of a wire that goes nowhere now. Did you look at that black wire on a white plug, plugged into the mother board. It's just on the top right of the upside down radio board. A black wire comes off it and goes to the left under a bundle of wire. Look for where that single wire goes.

The radio board plugs into the mother board, and the mother board has pins that carry radio board connections to the outside...like the antenna wire.

That looks like it. Take a good look at the end of the double wire and see if that metal clip is actually a connector pin that goes into the white big plug. Does it have a barb on one side? If so, can the barb be carefully bent out a little so that when put back in the connector, it will stay? Look at how the other pins are inserted and see if you can orient the double wire metal pin as they are and reinsert it.

No joy,  I think the little metal connector that slides into the white plug is the wrong size. Was a crapshoot anyway. It didn't seem to snap into place properly. Couldnt get it to seat like it should. But I really think that's the proper place for the wires. Oh well. Thanks so much for the help identifying the problem, Chuck. Just need th right part. What do I ask for?  Has that plug got a name?  Ted

I'm not a 100 percent of which plug series that is. Gunrunnerjohn on the forum and others could tell you for sure and also give you part numbers for the proper pin to connect to the double wire and then reinsert it. Maybe what is left on the double wire is just the crimped part and the part that encircles the pin on the body side of the connector is still in there...or fell out somewhere.

You could also wire around the connector, but getting the right pin would be my choice. Many are at the York train meet right now, so they may not respond quickly, but send John an email and ask him.

Sounds like a plan. I was temped to say the larger JST connector and pins, but couldn't be sure. Two things to connect is typical...usually the double wire is made into one wire and plugs in where it is on the mother board. BTW, I think you mis-identified the upside down radio board as over the smoke unit. It's not. It's the board to the left of the smoke unit. The board on the smoke unit is the smoke unit itself. But all is well now anyway.
