Still need a H/L lens, paint rear steps and hide H/L wire inside cab. It has been a challenging and fun project.

This really is terrific. Do you have prototype plans or photos from which you worked? Did you start with a passenger car body? I don't have the modeling chops you clearly have, but I'd love to see something like this in S-scale.
Incidentally, there was a recent post here about a large passenger car photo data set and among them is a fairly good size collection of motor car/doodlebug photos. I didn't see a listing for the L & N, but your model looks similar to what the UP had in motor cars M40 and M41 as you can see here: http://passcarphotos.info/Indices/DB6b.htm

I am currently building a LaBelle kit for a D&RGW gas electric the Grande kitbashed
in their own shops, using one of the Wisconsin suppliers conversions for old coaches.
I, too, wonder what you were using for power trucks, as I see this is three rail. I
am using an extended chassis from a Ready Made Toys RDC (which I would have
had to have lengthened to scale and converted to an RDC-3 anyway, if I didn't do this,
to avoid cringing when looking at it)

I've made a few lenses using a hollow punch set I got either at Michaels Arts&Crafts or Harbor Freight and used some thin clear styrene, thicker styrene tends to de-laminate once the punch goes thru it or when trying to remove it from the punch.
The punch set I got had 2 different handles with screw-in heads.
