I have six K Line Heavyweight passenger cars that are converted to 2 rail. They have dummy couplers and I want to replace them with KD couplers. They sit a little high off their trucks due to their high rail background. I was going to mill off 1/16 of and inch off the top of the trucks to lower them. Has anyone done anything like this, or have a better idea? Thank you!

Yes, to the K-Line freight trucks, with an end mill. Be careful, and hold the parts firmly. Or sell them and get the more accurate GGD heavyweights - they are quite attractive.

The pictures in my previous post show my progress. I bought the set of cars I have from someone else. I didn't know it when I bought them. but he had modified the truck sideframe mounting from a press fit swaged type mount to a 4-40 screw.
I removed the original die cast truck mount and made a new one from styrene. It is just under a 1/4 inch in height and brings the car body dow to just over the wheels.
Mounting KD's is next.
The couplers were easy to mount once I added a 0.060 styrene shim cut to 7/8 inch by 3/4 inch with a 1/4 inch access hole (covered by the KD coupler box. The 0.060 styrene makes the vestibule end a flat surface for the KD box to mount on. The 2-56 screws go into the plastic but not through the K Line car body. The screws were 7/16 inch cut down to fit.
Bob, I searched the web for both Golden Gate Depot (GGD) trucks and parts and came up empty. Perhaps I fouled up the search or didn't dig deep enough? Do you have a source for them?
