Hi all, I am making a 2 level layout with the lower level being traditional 0 gauge running MTH subway cars. I am trying to make it reminiscent of the NY IRT Pelham Line (6). I am thinking about some of the stations on the Lexington Avenue line in Manhattan. I am about ready to add the second level (street level). My question is how high (in inches) from the floor of the subway to the ceiling (second street leve) should I make it? I need enough room to get my hand in there to clear a derailment but I don't want it to look to tall. Any recommendations?

thanks

Frank

I would suggest making a simple mock-up that can be adjusted to different heights (floor of subway to street level) , and see what works and looks best to you. It could be something as simple as a couple of sections of track with a subway car on them -- then experiment with blocks of different heights to support the second level until you find the height you like. I think would be preferable to speculation.
