Hello! This is my first post to this forum.

I have two MTH GG-1 PS 3.0 locomotives (product numbers 20-5642-1 and 20-5644-1E from the set). Everything works perfectly except for one feature: neither one of them will allow the pantographs to operate in manual mode.  I reset the engines. I upgraded the DCS system software (TIU and remote) from version 4.20 to 5.0. No luck. The engines remain in automatic mode for raising and lowering the pantographs regardless of what the remote indicates.

I have a feeling this is a feature that was written up in the documentation and included in the remote menu--but not implemented on the engines themselves. Can anyone give me a clue? Is there a firmware upgrade for the engines I need?  Am I just outta luck?

Thanks.

So the work in auto correct?  How are you getting to manual?

When you select the panto mode and you have the MAN soft key showing, press the Soft key and arrow should appear along with AUTO softkey.  Use the arrows.  Is this how you are doing it?

Some people get confused.  When MAN is showing on screen you are in auto, and vice versa.  G

Yes, the pantographs work in auto; when I change direction they trade being up/down with the up pantograph being in the trailing direction and the down one in the direction of travel.

In the remote control, going to the pantograph menu, MANUAL is displayed. I press that soft key and then AUTO is displayed in the middle with the F/R up/down arrow symbols over the other softkeys. When I press the soft keys with the F or R up/down arrows, the remote's display shows"front/rear pantograph up/down," but there is no response from either engine.

UPDATE: I re-tried the feature and factory resets on both engines, hoping that the reset functions would finally initialize something. Nothing.  Then, I added the engines and did  the feature and factory resets again on both engines. Something must have finally stuck because when I re-added the engines the second time, voilà, the manual pantograph mode finally started working!

I'm an old software engineer. It sounds like a little refactoring is in order for their system firmware. Whatever...I'm just happy it's working now.
