Menards flatcars

OK - I had to go look up what a "Menards" is. I've seen it mentioned before.
Now I know. I'll have to make do with Home Depot and Lowe's, I guess.

There has been a couple threads on the Menards train sets and rolling stock over the past month or so. Menards seems to be into O Gauge electric trains with their name on the pieces over the past few years.

Did a Find on Menards but this thread didn't pop up. The forum find search is not robust.

I mail ordered (and received) the Menards flatcar with illuminated sign and must say that I am very dissapointed with the shoddy construction.

As shown in photos on another thread on these items, the mounting platforms used for the sign and poles are affixed to the flat by hot glue.... which became dislodged during shipping, allowing the sign and poles to rattle around in the box.
I would suggest that if Menards has any similar ideas in the furure that they lose the hot glue and utilize a sturdy way to attach the mounting platforms to the flatcar. The hot glue which may stick as long as you don't touch the sign or poles! Very dissapointed.

I picked up the flatcar with pickup truck today. The lights work on the pickup just like the sign. Not sure you would see the lights on when loaded on a flatcar but you can remove it and use it on your layout lighted.

I was in Menards yesterday and picked up the flatcar with lighted sign. The sign's mounting base was still glued to the flat but I did see a couple that had come loose.

I recently purchased the Mennards TOFC for $39 bucks. I don't recommend it.

Very cheap construction. A rugged rails car is a far better, less costly, option.

Just received the Menards US Army flat car with a tank on it. The tank has

sound and flashing LEDs. It is very nice for $24.95.
