The Glacier Line update: here are my new 8 hoppers of Great Northern. These are full sized O scale and are very well done! I just can't believe how inexpensive these were. I got all of these cars for an average price of $16.82. Unbelievable! A normal average price for these cars is about $40 a piece of the other manufacturers.

The scale is very close.  The weight is close to NMRA standards.  The appearance is great!

Those are almost identical to the Lionel Quad hoppers going back decades. Williams also has a Quad hopper that is nearly identical as well. The inside dimensions are slightly different between the three versions. I don't think these are considered scale size though, as they are considerably smaller then Weaver, MTH, Atlas and Lionel scale four bay hoppers.

I picked up a few of these in different road names, great cars for the money. My only problem with them is they spark and cause short circuits running through my Gargraves switches. I noticed there is a lot side play in the axles on the trucks, it appears this is what was causing the sparks and short circuits as I switched the original trucks with Lionel die-cast trucks and the problem has been solved.  Just wondering if anyone else has had any problems with these cars and Gargraves? Very happy with the cars!!

I've got two Gargraves turnouts sparking.  Its got to be the switches and not the cars, because I have forty some odd switches.  3 are Ross, all other Gargraves.  Those cars make it thru all the turnouts less two.  I've got to figure out why.
