I'll bare my soul, Santa take pity on me and look after me...

I was born in Melbourne in 1943 I grew up for the first few years with English magazines then my Father passed away when I was 11 and I found I could do what I liked  and make my own decisions during the fifties Rock and Roll and America came to Australia I was always a "rocker" people hated us we were called Bodgies we liked rock music Elvis was our hero purple jackets bright coloured socks we were cool. Towards the late fifties and early sixties American mags swamped the market I fell in love with Hot Rods and destroyed many old Fords building hot Rods out of them I also took a liking to Rivarossi American trains and was fascinated by them they were expensive but there was plenty of ways to earn money in those days so I was a confirmed American in Australia everything Americans did in those early days I liked. So I suppose American trains have been a part of my life from those days in the sixties and I am still enjoying them today but no more purple jackets, tight pegged pants, and iridescent socks I still listen to Elvis sometimes though! the Photo is about the only one I have when I was seventeen years old check the Mag date November1960! And the hair style. Roo.DSC01143

A bit later, but I always wanted an Australian Dodge/Plymouth slant six. Or should I say "bent six" since they got more performance versions of the design.

That's why we couldn't kill ours. It was supposed to be a performance design, but was detuned for economy here. Still a forged crank, etc. till the 70s. You can go 70 to 90 overbore (Ive heard of 120 on some blocks) and stroke the heck out of them if you want. I think they even got a hemi head version Down Under if I recall.

I like the long Dodge rod ratios and fat journal sizes at 15:1.  "If you can start it, it will run", lol.
