I was able to get some images of the Branson Scenic Railways while down in Branson Missouri last week.

Operations then were 3 runs a day, I think in June it bumps up to 4 runs a day with the addition of the evening diner train.

Nice looking power, a GP30 on the south end and an F9 on the north end. Lots of ex Zephyr cars including 3 domes. Trains usually depart southbound about 20 miles and return, about an hour 45 minute tour. Rolls through tunnels and across some nice bridges. It will run north if the M&NA has other traffic, but conductor stated that they only went north one trip that week.

Radio chatter can be heard on channel 160.635 or channel 35-35.

The train runs on ex Missouri Pacific rails now operated by Missouri & North Arkansas RR, The "White River Route." Not much traffic on the line, an occasional coal train and the local. I never saw any other traffic except the passenger runs.

The operation is run out of the ex freight depot in Branson. There is also a nicely restored Mopac passenger depot just across the river in Hollister. The route crosses Lake Taneycomo bridge between the two towns just after leaving Branson.

The GP30 is ex CSX, ex B&O.

The F9 leading the 2PM run back into the station at Branson about 3:45 PM. The unit was not running, I was told it starts as needed for extra power.

Great pics to start the thread for this week.  Here are a few from aron lincoln. To start here is one of the State Penn,  they still use coal to power their plant. In the upper right corner you can see the Penns cemetery with white crosses. Lots of rain this last week so no bright photo's,  also got a shot in with the State Capital.  Nick 20150524_06591420150524_07142220150524_07062220150524_07060620150524_071943

Some Berea, Ohio action.  Norfolk Southern is investing heavy amounts in upgrading the Mile Post 194 track section.  New signals, switch heaters, ATC equipment.  Some of their new equipment is cutting down on open areas which were available for clear photos . Now you will see some of the new equipment.

Big Thanks to Diesel Dan for starting the Midweek Photos this week.

Memorial Day weekend saw visitors come out in large numbers to tourist railroads, museums and the like.  Here in Scranton, PA, we see two trains of a sort ready to depart on their respective journeys.  On the left of the platform is the Electric City Trolley Station & Museum's car 80 getting riders for the run to Moosic PA.  All they need to do is reset the pole into the trailing position.

The right side of the platform was boarding for a World War II Troop Train to Jessup, PA.  With Steamtown short on power for trains so far this year, Delaware-Lackawanna RR lent their RS11 number 1804.  This is her first time leading an excursion.
