May the Fourth be with you!  Another Wednesday has rolled around, and I have no new material to share.  It has been raining nearly every day for over a week, and I just did not feel like waiting trackside for dark photos.  So, here are some flashback images to when I was chasing steam in the desert four years ago.

Santa Fe 4-8-4 no. 3751 was running from Los Angeles to Arizona as part of the Centennial of AZ becoming a state.  For the trip, 3751 was made an honorary Amtrak steam locomotive.

A lot of dome action on the train, too.  These were in Fullerton, CA.DSC_0963

Here is the train stopped at Barstow, CA

Back on the road, still in Barstow.  3751 is still clean!DSC_0979

Every once in a while on the chase, there was a clearing.

Not all of the shots are perfect, but it was a great run.  The train arrived in Parker, Arizona after dark.

Santa Fe 3751 also took to the road this past week for the train days in Fullerton, which reminded me of these photos I took a few years back.  How have your chases or encounters with trains in the real world been lately?  if you have any that you would like to share, then you know we want  to see them.  Have a great week!

Rail cars weren't the only things built at the Berwick AC&F plant. During the 1940s thousands of Stuart Light Tanks and other military equipment were built at the Berwick AC&F plant. In march 2016 one of those tanks returned home. The plan is to eventually have the Stuie Tank placed at the entrance to the industrial park, which was once home to the American Car and Foundry in Berwick, PA. It will serve as a memorial to the Stuie Tanks, the factory, and the thousands of people who worked there. The first three photos I took during a small parade held for its homecoming. The last two photos date to the 1940s and show a line of PRR gondolas loaded with Stuart tanks under tarps and a line of flat cars loaded with bulldozers at the Berwick AC&F ready to be shipped out to war.
