Modeling a KRL #300360 heavy duty depressed center 12-axle flatcar.
This is a KRL Red n Ready flatcar with a load limit of 651,000 pounds. The car has a 36 foot depressed center deck. The car length is 107 feet 6 inches over strikers. A detailed dimensioned drawing of the prototype is attached.
An O scale model of this car has been scratchbuilt. It is articulated to allow use on O-36 curved track.

An O scale model of this car has been scratchbuilt. It is articulated to allow use on O-36 curved track. The depressed center deck can be shifted side to side to balance the load on a curve. Although the car is exact scale length the deck pivot point has been shortened by 11 scale feet on the model to allow operation on O-36 curves.
The deck height on the model is 3 scale feet. The deck inside length is 36 scale feet. The total platform length is 74 scale feet. Coupled length is 108 scale feet.
