modern reefers

Lionel and Weaver released Pacific Car & Foundry 57' Mechanical Refrigerator cars.

The ARMN cars are old Fruit Grower's Express 57' Mechanical Refrigerator Cars.

When put next to each other in photos or as HO Scale models it is possible to see the detail differences.

I wish Atlas or Lionel would have made modern refer cars. I also wished for sound installed too!

Ah well.

I spent my time scratch building G scale engines. Can't have it all. Can't do it all ($$$).

Joe, would seem like a great vision line car for Lionel.... That being said Atlas already has the N and HO versions from their BLMA acquisition.

I bought the last 3 ( I wanted more ) of the air conditioning units. Looks like the same as your pic.

I get lazy and wanted some RTR cars from someone. Life has better plans for my time, usually.

One could pull the refrigerator units from a couple of Atlas trailers and make a mold if the original parts were no longer available.

I thought they were smaller, but they're pretty close!

It would be excellent if Atlas offered these in their MasterLine, I'm thinking they would sell out each run. Lionel Vision Line would be good too but my preference would be for 2 rail rtr.

John that would be my preference as well and likely the easiest to bring it to market.  Considering the latest multi-max and rebuilt well car along with the trinity 5161 they've had great success with the modern cars they've tooled up.  I see a lot of tooling and packaging similarities between the multimax and the rebuilt well cars.

I emailed Atlas a couple months ago and they said there are no plans to offer the reefers on O scale at this time. If you're interested please email them so they realize the demand for these beautiful and needed models.
