I am making a new mountain on my layout and was wondering what colors to use. Here is my mountain that I want to pant and put cover on. Could I see pictures of your mountains so I can get idea's? Is there a good website to look at to get idea's? I am going to put my homemade cell phone tower somewhere on the or around the mountain.

This website - http://www.ericstrains.com has some good tutorial videos about creating and painting mountains.
Woodland Scenics liquid pigments come in various earth tones. They can be diluted with water and are designed to be brushed on as a wash absorbing into the plaster .
My mountain won't win any awards but is was easy to create using plaster cloth over some boxes and then some liquid pigment brushed on.

Hey David, I also use strained dirt to add different textures. If you sand dirt clods you can brush the dirt on I also use a coffee grinder a lot. You can use a vibrator, the type you use on your muscles, not the other type . that way your not shaking your brains out with the strainer ---Mark

Any earth tone will do. You are going to lose that color if you put on some rocks, and ground cover then add in some trees. Although my photo is from a flat spot on the layout its the same concept I used on my mountain area. The ground cover and trees really take over.

Update. I was able to get the top half of the mountain done this week. Hope to be able to work on it some more this week. Have a great week and hope I can post some progress next week.
