I have a #20-97780 MTH 100-ton covered hopped (TH&B 1504) and could use some advice disassembling and converting to 2-rail. There appear to be a total of 10 screws holding the floor/under frame to the body. It appears that perhaps the ends have to come off at the same time, undoing the four screws from the top of the ends to the roof walk area. Also, the fine wire air lines seems to be attached to the under frame and should come off at the same time. Once the body is off, it appears there are mounting bosses already in place that look as if they will accept kadees. The trucks I can likely deal with as they look like the same trucks on the MTH burro crane, which although fiddly I converted successfully using Intermountain wheelsets, which seem to fit fine. The Intermountain wheels are a tad smaller and would lower the car by 0.011"

i would appreciate thoughts and advice on this process - particularly on how to disassemble this thing!

I've done many of these conversions. To remove the bottom, remove the screws and then carefully pry the ends outwards as you remove the bottom.  All the piping is not connected to the car body. I use atlas o trucks which lowers the car significantly. You need 100 ton trucks with 36" wheels to do them right. And when you do you can mount the Kadee coupler directly to the mounting holes mth has on the car. No shims needed, and  They look awesome when done.
