MTH 787 log loader help

I have the MTH 787 Log loader, and it picks up the logs just fine, but
only dumps them about 30% of the time. Seems that the tram does not travel
up the rails far enough. Maybe an 1/8" short.

The unit is on a level surface, and I'm running 13V on it. ( min of 12v per
instructions ) I have adjusted the poker thing that pushes the log carrying
wire back all the way.
It's almost as if the string is a little to short. This looks like it
could be a challenge to tie the knots perfectly,

I looked at a couple of these on YouTube and they release the logs
very close to the platform. Maybe this thing is a great idea but poor
design.

Any idea's out there ?

Thanks...

I have one that I used under the Christmas tree and found it to be a great little accessory. It is very well designed and I think it is a remake of a American Flyer postwar accessory.

If the tram doesn't travel all the way up the rails, it might be that the swing arm that pulls the cable is slighty out of alignment. I seem to recall having to make a slight adjustment to cordinate the lifting of the log with the pick up hook.

My 787 ran flawlessly, it really is a neat accessory. I wish that I was able to incorporate mine into my permanent layout.

Mmm I looked at that and don't see any way to adjust. Can you elaborate ?
The arm is not bent and the vertical piece looks good.
Did your drop the logs in the middle of the car or off to one side ?
