This page features gondola cars with LCL cement containers.  I understand in 'shipping speak', LCL means less than car load.  But these gondolas are loaded from side to side and end to end with 6 cement containers.  There isn't room for anything else!  For this reason I find it hard to believe LCL stand for less than car load in this instance.

Can anyone please shed some light on this for me?

Many thanks

Three things to consider. Yes, they are cement containers and yes the gondola is full. However, that does not preclude different grades of cement being loaded in the containers.  Or, they could all be filled with the same material destined for two or more different customers. Finally, it's your railroad. You don't have to load all the containers on the gondola all at once.

Any way, it would constitute a LCL.
