Just purchased this one and ive tried to run it on my test track with a z4000, but it will not go forward or reverse.

The PS2 sounds ramp up ok but are garbled.

Ive charged it on the track @12v for a couple of hrs but no change

All lights come on but still wont move

I guess Ill have to find my DCS and try it that way. I just thought it would run conventional ok off the z4k

I'll chime in here to boost Barry's book.

If you plan on running DCS, Get the Book.

It's the one stop for all info on DCS operation.

OGR also sells a video for DCS and it is helpful to many, but they do not have the depth of Barry's knowledge.

I keep saying MTH should just give Barry the price of the book and include it in the System package. Maybe a Check every quarter based on # of systems shipped from the factory.

Wouldn't that work for you Barry?

If your sound is nasty, you may have the early PS-2 with a 5 volt board and very common bad speaker.  The plating on the speaker magnet  (due to old age) flakes off and gets all over the speaker.   If you have the original white battery, you might get in trouble.  On any MTH engine with a white battery, throw the battery away and replace it with a new battery.  Nix the idea of charging one of those old batteries.  Many locomotives with the 5 volt board are an easy to do with retro boards.  This engine is not as the PS-2 board is a shoe horn fit inside the locomotive and not the tender.  Treat your board set to a new battery and speaker and all will be fine.

I have that exact engine (6060) and it is a keeper.
