MTH DCS 50-1001...when????

Should be soon. My guess is a month or two, however, I have no inside info. Call MTH and ask them. They can tell you when it should be in-country.

Will it be "Rev. L"?

Unless there's something newer (of which I am not aware), yes, it will be aa Rev. L.

What authorized distributers should have it?

Everyone who placed an order.

Go to the DCS set web page and press the FIND IT! button. You'll see who allegedly has it available. Since I hear that everyone who says they have it actually does not, make that your short list of who has it on order and start calling around to see who has one available for pre-order.

My screen says they "should" be in next month...I hope so as eBay is fetching $355.00 for them. 

I personally wouldn't order from a dealer who wants a deposit..esp. for a DCS set.

My father bought the last DCS system from our locale hobbie shop in November 2013 and I asked when they would have more.  There answer was in the spring. I do not like these vage answer when you are willing to spend what I consider a lot of money for some thing that seem to get poor customer service and none accurate delivery times. I found a DCS system at an shop and bought it in Febuary 2014 . I just started this hobbie less than 6 months ago and I already feel that the manufacturers have you at there mercy and they make it very obviuse that they do not care!

I had ordered one last month. Last week when I was in my local shop preordering some rolling stock, and was told to expect mine mid-late May after a phone call to his supplier.

While the makers of our toys do slip the deliveries often and far, they do so to give us a product that works, not a shoddy, get it fast burger style product.

MTH in particular has suffered with parts shortages that crippled the construction of electronics for a time and a (Korean?) Company that shut the doors while holding the molds to all the MTH steam engines. A long court battle in a foreign court was won and the molds are now in a new factory and making product.

This made many MTH steam engines years late in delivery. But they are coming in now.

Also, be aware that the catalogs we see are offering product not yet made.

Those items that fail to get enough pre-orders do not get made at all. This is how they judge demand for new product, so all those who wait to see it in store must be aware they may never see it in the store if too many people make this choice.

You have to remember that it's not the hobby shop that is the issue here, they're at the mercy of MTH, and they're at the mercy of the overseas manufacturing plant.  Until they're completed and shipped to MTH, you ain't gonna' see them at any hobby shop!

The vague answer is because they really have no idea when they'll get them, how could they?

Now that someone has explained why MTH has these delays I fully understand how there hands are tied. I also always buy from the locale hobby shop before I resort to the internet .Thanks for explaining this and I hope MTH can find a new supplier. 

I am totally new to this and started looking into it this week.

I didn't look into the Lionel solution since what little reading I have done seems to indicate that DCS is the way to go.

I was thinking of starting out with a 50-1033 but I see this would end up being a paperweight very quickly so I figured going 50-1001 is the better solution ...

Maybe I will purchase a PS3 engine (My 1st) and run it in conventional until I get me hands on the DCS system. I really wanted to get a DCS and use the variable input to control conventional engines to start ...

Both MTH and Lionel have been singing this song for a looooooooooong time, so I tend not to believe them.  I don't think anyone really knows were the are or what the schedule is for shipment.

I am in Syracuse this week and I found one at JR Junction

They seemed to have about 4 in stock, it seems they received them last week.

DCS has landed in a great many hobby shops.

I am still traveling ... is the firmware version changed on these new ones?

I'd be surprised if the new DCS sets had anything later than 4.20.

Barry, you are correct.  Picked my new TIU up on 5/15/14 from my LHS and it only has v4.20. 

FYI, Just Trains of Delaware is advertising that the DCS systems are in, priced at $295.  They are also having a free shipping sale on orders over $300
