MTH Doodlebug and O-27 Track

The O27 curves - no problem, O27 manual switches - no problem. But, the usual overhang problems with the switch machine boxes of some types of remote switches.

It'll whack the O27 switch housings, I just set one on to see.

If you get the add on cars you also need to use the thinner diaphragm, or it will derail the truck in tight curves.  G

Thanks for the input. Looks like I am going to stick with using the Pullman Expansion pack for my passenger equipment or the old Lionel 2400 series cars. I will probably stick with O-27 because of limited space I have for the layout.

I guess, from what I've been reading, the old Lionel F-3s were famous for scraping the switch motor housings as well. I wonder how hard it would be to do a chop job on the MTH Doodlebug and take an inch or so out of the length...hmmm....

Having had my PS-1 equipped Doodlebug open various times, there isn't any room to make it shorter, all the space was crammed full and made for a tight fit when it came to put the body back on.

Thanks for the heads up. I got out of HO a number of years ago and I did a lot of kit bashing, especially with the old Ambroid and Labelle kits. 3rail O gauge is more structured in that you can't just get out the Xacto tools and easily modify something. Also you don't seem to have options to buy separate power trucks, etc...

Big advantage for O is my ability to actually see what I'm doing...however...
