I contacted MTH on their Facebook site and they said the Premier ES44AC's are being built this month and should arrive about 2 months from now. So it may be about April until we see them.

Terrific............My Grandson wanted the CN for Xmas. I told him hopefully for his birthday in March. Oh well, thanks for the update.

Yeah, I know MTH does not have a BTO program like Lionel but it does seem the only way to get something is to pre order and be committed prior to actually seeing the product. While I like is I also dislike it as well.

H0pefully my dealer carries a few of the newer MTH products - He gave up on the stocking high end Lionel and I am hoping that he doesn't do the same for MTH.

MTH doesn't have an official  BTO program like Lionel, but it does seem like nowadays they are making fewer "extras" (beyond the pre-orders) and dealers seem less likely to order extras (except the most popular roadnames).  If you want the 2-rail version, pre-ordering is almost a must for getting one.

I agree with Martin that it is difficult to get the MTH scale-wheel / 2-rail models without preordering. Another risk with not pre-ordering is that the model could be cancelled. I wouldn’t pre-order, even for MTH scale-wheel locomotives until they cancelled the scale-wheel BNSF AC4400CW, 2 years ago. So as much as I dislike pre-ordering, because of their unpredictable delivery dates, I pre-ordered this Evolution Hybrid model

These are just my opinion,

Thanks,

You can pre-order two rail from us without a deposit. Sometimes MTH has two-three extra two rails unsold by the time they get here. I'm happy to check for you anytime. E-mail me.

I have extra Premier ES-44s coming in 3-rail. Please order them on my website. My discounted pre-order price still applies.

I still have extra Lionel ES44s, like Marty's FEC above. See my website to order what's left.

Thank you.

Steve.

I just contacted MTH by phone & the delivery date for the Premier scale-wheeled GE Evolution Hybrid from the 2015 Volume 2 catalog, that I preordered has been postponed from April 2016 to July. They are being built right now, planned for shipping in June. The Hi-Rail versions are on the water right now.

These are just my opinion,

Thanks,

Thanks for the info. These were due out in Nov. 2015. After this long of a wait  I hope the CN engines are done right with the correct windshields and the nose door on the engineer's side.

Paul, you really think Mike is going to spend $XK for tooling for Tier 2 diesels when he did NOT for the NS Heritage units?  Especially in light of the fact that Tier 4 is now in effect (and are visually different) that I guess they MTH will have to tool for if they want to sell contemporary diesel motive power models.

Ron,

I think it is the opposite in this situation. MTH actually made some Canadian National ES44DC that had the 5-sided front-windshields similar to the windshields on the EMD SD70MAC. These windshields also cause a different profile at the top of the GE short-wide cab hood. MTH managed to capture this unique detail found exclusively on CN (& some Western Australian) GE locomotives while the made every other GE Evolution with the 4-sided front windshield.

But then CN started ordering GE Evolution with the more popular 4-sided front windshields for the later AC locomotives & for the newer Tier IV locomotives. The uncertainty for Paul might be in not knowing if MTH would make a CN ES44AC with the incorrect 5-sided windshields on the ES44DC or would they make the CN like all other ES44AC which would actually be correct in this specific situation.

These are just my opinion,

Actually this situation is the reverse of the five sided CN windows. The 2015 MTH CN GEVOS should have the same rectangular windows as the other roads and the nose door should be on the engineer's side. I'm hoping this is the case because I was pleasantly surprised at the correct modifications MTH made to the SD70Ace model with the rear walkway light and sand fill positions correctly adjusted for later production units.
