MTH Full DCS System(not DCS Commander) and DCC

Does anybody have any experience running DCS and DCC on the same layout at the same time? Can you put a DCC system through the fixed output on the DCS system and not confuse everything or is it one or the other. I am setting up an HO scale layout for my dad and I want to use the DCS system since it is stupidly simple and my dad is not a learning kinda guy so it is easy for him to use but want to be able to run DCC for other locos. Do I need to isolate the 2 systems?

Matt,

 

You most certainly cannot operate DCS and DCC on the same track at the same time.

 

As far as passing the DCC signal through a TIU channel:

  • DCC is DC and the variable channels will not pass DC
  • If you passed DCC signals through the fixed channels, it might work, if and only if, the DCS signal was turned off on the fixed channels
