I have heard that the MTH mini commander will control up to 3 engines and can't do any track switch or relay controlling. You need to find out more on the MTH website to see what it can do for sure.

I am not sure what a mini CDR is??? If you are talking DCS Remote Commander that comes in RTR sets it broadcast on 1 ID number only (Factory Reset ID). So all trains on that track would have to have the same ID and they would all respond the same. So really meant for 1 engine.
The DCS COmmander is a smaller DC unit that can control up to 10 engines, but is limited to DC output and is really meant for HO, but works fine with smaller O layouts. You would be limited by the power supply input (about 8 Amps and 16VDC output). G
