Arriving this afternoon was a pallet from MTH of new trains including over 3 dozen Premier Light Mikado's. We received Nickel Plate Road, New York Central, Chesapeake & Ohio, and our custom run Monon's! Thank you, MTH, and my friend and fellow Monon enthusiast Mike Benham for helping me with this project. Very exciting!

MTH included an accurate builder's plate and the small lettering 501 on the sand dome. Check out the back of the tender. Very nice job, MTH.

The one MTH did around 2001 I thought was the best detailed of all the die cast USRA Mikados including K-Line's and Lionel's light and heavy 2-8-2s. This one appears to have even more detail with the cab curtains, deck plate, and lagging clamps. Likely has a much larger motor than those as well.  Very tempting.

I wished that the Nickel Plate 587 came with the Berkshire style tender like the prototype did in the majority of its excursion service. Still, it looks nice.

Steve, how do these engines sound? Loved to see one in action.

Sadly with the price of tooling to get one of the kind railroad specific feature like when Lionel did the B&A berkshires and gave them Hudson tenders instead as built short tenders or MTH building B&A hudsons without the square sand dome is more than likely not going to happen, unless done in brass.

Mr. Muffin, any videos? Would love to see how it sounds.
