I've got one of the Alco S-2 switchers. Nice engine with good features, but I find that the volume is much lower than my other switchers. Is this a speaker issue and if so, has anyone replaced the speaker in this engine to get better sound? Thanks

Many of the smaller switchers have small speakers that do struggle with decent volume. I suspect this is one of them.
I would try a factory reset first. Then make sure the volume is up to 100% on the remote. I had a 'low' volume engine but after doing a factory reset the sounds level increased. Can't hurt. I also have the S2 but have not run it recently.

I'll try it, but this engine has always had low volume. I was hoping I could find a better speaker for it.

I have three S2 B&O, ATSF, PRR and Some A5 and B6 steamers with the anemic sound systems I called MTH and they said it was normal, HHHmmmm. No more smalls swithcers here. Also, if one of them S2 starts to smoke a lot from the stack, shut it off the smoke unit is about to go, The PRR S2 started smoking real well the the engine stopped then nothing the Santa Fe did the same thing and I did connected the smoke unit and saved the mother board.
