MTH PS2 GP40 lost connection

 Yep battery. you nailed it.  What's the engine's cab number, maybe there's a replacement battery that you could use until the new one arrives.

why don't you buy a BCR from Mth they last longer then batterys and don't have half the issues that dead batteries or low battery's cause. Also with a BCR you turin the power on and wait about 1 minutes it charge and then run your train and enjoy. when your trains sits for any leangth of time just power up 10 vvolt or so and wait  1 minutes and then run your train. i have changed all my ps1 engines eith 9 volt or 2.4 volt ni cad batterys they make BCR for both. costs around $25.00. you can also buy them on ebay!

I found a MTH 2.4v on ebay for 9.00 and it was close by so shud be here in 2 days. Eng number 1359. Thinking of getting a BCR also

I looked at both the regular 2.4v and the BCR2 and wasn't sure about the BCR. I haven't seen much review or feedback on the BCR so I went with the 9.00 2.4v for now. I think when its time to replace other batteries, I will go with the BCR and BCR2. The battery I purchased was 9.oo with free shipping so it will do for a while. Thanks for the info tho.   Larry

Do not push your luck and power it up again until you get your new battery.  I see many engines in this situation that have been fleabay queens.  The prior owners did not know what to do.

When you use BCR and BCR2, do you just turn power on to the track and let the transformer charge these in 1 or 2 minutes?

Yes.  And MTH doesn't sell BCRs.  G

I replaced the old battery with a BCR and the GP40 is running like a new one. Thanks for all te info and help
