I've been trying to download sound files from MTH and when I click the logo to download them, it goes to a screen of random characters.  I've tried on 3 different computers and two different phones. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the website or something I'm doing. It didn't work yesterday and it won't work today. Can anyone else get them to download?

p021pftfreight_all020320afin_3v.mthis the file description.

Can I safely use this file in my 5v engine?

No it won't load.

I think  Zephyr 1 is looking for the crossing whistle sof-tkey. I don't think it was available with 5 volt boards but could be wrong. Unfortunately unless someone knows for sure there's only one way to find out.

Geeze! I hope the original sound files for early 5 volt  engines are still  available on MTH's web site.

I don't know either Alan,, It appears if you need to fix a 5  volt system it has to be repaired with a 3 volt board ( upgrade kit?) and thus the 3 volt sound file is shown ?

next guess  is.... Eventually  only ps-3 kits and files will  be used to repair 3 volt boards??  Fortunate I saved quite a few  5 & 3 volt files  and saved ( burned them) on CDs. I still have the loaders  and  few DCS versions on CDs. I doubt if I will ever use them.  Not much good if you can't get a board to put then in.

This is just my opinion.... I have no connection to any repair guys or MTH.

Early 3V only had 1MB too.  Wasn't until later that 2meg memory showed up and expanded sound files that were larger.

It is all based on what the sound engineers put into the sound file.  Many 3V sound files are just 1meg files.  But some of the later PS-2 3V are larger.

Yes since the replacement for a PS-2 5V board was a 3V file, MTH would convert the 5V file to a 3V format and label it as an upgrade file.  Or create it for PS-1 that did not have PS-2 5V files.

In the end the format for a 5V board is different hence why only 5V files work in 5V boards.

Any 3V file can work in any 3V board as long as the file is not larger then the memory.  Most are not.  G
