Scot:

I have a great deal of admiration for you Scot. You have been handed more than your share of health issues and you have such a positive attitude. Through I have not have had the pleasure to meet you personally, I consider you to be a good friend.

If you need help with your layout project, I am sure the wonderful Forum members in the Chicago area would gladly lend a hand. All you have to do is ask.

Take your time with this project. It will get done.

Good luck Scot!

We're looking forward to seeing the progress of your layout, it's great to see people overcome their issues and to move forward with their dreams.

Regarding the yard work, those chores here in Maryland continue as our 100' oaks are still dropping their leaves.  I'm getting ready to head outside to begin some cleanup, will likely do 50-75 bags of leaves this weekend (no joke), we'll see how it goes!

All the best...Rich

Sometimes life deals you a curve but all we can do is pick up the pieces and move on. You have my admiration of having done this. Trains are an enjoyable hobby and they serve to take away the stresses of daily life. Work when you feel up to it; in only a few minutes a day progress can be made. Finish one loop, get a set running, run them often and you'll have comfort that your dream is finally coming true.

I will keep you in our prayers my friend.

Hello Guys. I lost my main computer last night. Now I'm typing on a 6 year old  tiny laptop.   And all I did was unplug it and move it 5' to the other side of the room.   So much for trying to clean a spot for a Christmas tree. I just wanted to thank every one who replyed to this post. So I will reread it again so it all sinks in.

Scot --

Hope your health has stabilized. I am a diabetic too. Gone blind in one eye due to diabetic retinopathy (make soldering a challenge) and am on a kidney transplant waiting list (3 years into an average 3 year wait). If I'm lucky, relatively speaking, I'll get a two-for-one deal and get a pancreas with the kidney.

Take care!

Scot,

Having been through all that has been handed to you know there are times when you need help. Passenger Train Collector has it right. Just ask for help. There are enough forum members near you.

Regarding your main computer, check all of your connections. Then turn it on. See if it will start. If not, shut down, turn it on and hold down the F8 button. When menus appear, choose Start up repair or advanced, then start-up repair. It may repair itself.

You should be able to connect you monitor, keyboard and mouse to the laptop. Then you won't have to look at the little screen and mess with the touchpad for mouse.

I wish you the best with your health.

Carl

Jark K. Remol  You Know I have been there. I was on The waiting list for 5 years. I had a donor then she got scared and backed out. It was my sister. Then when she was ready I wasn't that is when I lost the leg. which put it off another 8 months. I hope and pray for you so you can get the

two-for-one deal and get a pancreas with the kidney.    The best of luck

How true. Sometimes just sitting on my stool and having the engines going around the loops, is very relaxing. Sometimes memories of long ago, a different time and place comes rushing back, and I'm the kid looking up and waving at these giants going by and counting cars.

Nicely put, josef.  A woman once asked me what I felt when running trains, and I thought that it was a great question.  Your answer would have been splendid.

Hi Scot,  The layout looks like it has a great track plan!  When I first read yoru post, I thought the"yard work" was regarding building a train yard in the layout, but you were refering to working in the yard outside.  I also have raked several yard waste bin (90 gallons each) worth of leaves that drop mainly from my neighbors trees,  those are all gone, but the maple tree in my yard still has yet to give up its leaves.

Have a great thanksgiving and keep us posted on your progress.

Dave, I love it!!

I too have a lot of leaves from my neighbors.

First of all the folks across the road leave for Florida right after Halloween.  Several of their trees don't lose most of their leaves until they are gone.  The neighbor beside me doesn't clean up any leaves after his last mowing.  He has two junk cars and a row of shrubs that catch all his leaves, then they keep blowing in all winter.  Nice.  On the other hand, we used to live across from a woods, so we had leaves blowing in all winter.

I had already cleaned up 70 of the large paper bags our township requires us to use for recycling, if you don't burn them.  We had a tremendous wind storm two days ago, and when I got home, the yard across the road and beside us were bare of leaves.  They were all piled up in our driveway next to the retaining wall and covered the steps leading up to the front door.  Wow!  Last night I filled up 15 more bags from what the wind blew in.

I still have to get all the leaves under that neighbor's line of shrubs.  It is not worth risking a good neighborly relationship over.

Sorry Scot for rambling.  Keep up the good work on your layout!!
