finally scored a NKP Marx tender off the bay. I had wanted to do a four wheel truck conversion on one of these ever since I did my PRR Merch car. Original plans were to put it behinf my 333, but the drawbar wasn't long enough. I always thought the 666 was a great looker,(and definatly needs another set of drivers, but that's for another project) and the wedge tender is too small. I had a plastic Santa Fe stockcar I had picked up at an antique shop. Someone had cut off the tilt couplers and added Lionel couler plates. So a few minutes with the dremel, and I added the stockcar trucks, reusing the tab and slot couplers. Looks great with the 666.

doesn't it? and not because I did it! Too bad Marx didn't put these behinf the 333,666,& 1829. Now...does anyone know if a 333 motor will fit under a 666?
Dave,
Oh yea great looking stuff! Congrats on a fine job.

Cool project, that's pretty cool looking!
I put Marx scale trucks and couplers on mine and run them behind the 333. Looks like it was made for it.
Looks great. The 666 really needs more tender than a Wedge or the little plastic 1951 tender. Even the slope back doesn't look right behind "road power" like the 666. The 8 wheel 7" tender looks just right!

Steve that looks great! got some more pics and info?
my original plan was the 3/16 trucks, but I've had the coupler Santa Fe stockcar gathering dust for years.
Dave
I made a 6 wheel truck for the front to give it a heavier duty look and replaced the coal pile because I wanted it to represent an oil tender.
