Talk about destruction. My wife bought me this bad boy, about 30' tall in scale size, to terrorize the peace loving people on my layout. I have a Boatman, now Mr. Godzilla. And will be looking for one or two more additions to complete humorous vignettes on my layout. Meanwhile you all be good to me here on OGR Forum or my new monster friend might come visiting! Any ideas apart from another super hero or monster for an obvious fun effect?

Whimsy isn’t my thing at all for modeling, but I recognize it’s bread and butter for others, so how about:

A T-Rex chasing people ‘downtown’ with an InGen vehicle chasing it?

Or, a Macross/Robotech VF fighter, one pulling top cover and the other down in the streets, waiting for a Zentraedi battle pod?

From the little I remember of those old Asian monster movies, I recall the monster distroying cars, buildings, ect. As a result of the attacks, fires were started. How about having a building on fire with lots of smoke coming from a building he attacked. Also a few cars turned upside down and of course this calls for the army to be involved. The possibilities are endless and so is the expense.

I took these shots for a sci-fi forum showing the almost-O-scale “Aliens” Colonial Marines APC model I got at a local comic book place. 1/43 scale is popular for all kinds of stuff like this. I know someone makes the Back to the Future Delorian in each of it’s configurations (yes, even the rail-wheeled 1885 version).

And you simply HAVE to have a TARDIS. Heck, I have one but it’s slightly out of scale, probably about 1/55 scale. But none of this stuff ever gets onto my layout (with the exception of the APC above, which lasted all of 5 minutes, if that):

Suggestion...

Get a similar (or LARGER?) one of these to perch in her dressing room/shoe closet!...

Rodan.2rodan

...and have George, at ITT Products, the Sound Module guy, do a custom chip with a terse/pithy message such as 'Bring it on, Babe!'.....in Japanese, of course!!...that's triggered when the light switch goes on.

....then notify Dr. Phil.

I am reminded of a cartoon in the "New Yorker" magazine from a few years back: a godzilla-type monster was coming down the street, people were running, and one man calls out "Wait! He's been absorbed into the system!". The monster is walking down the street wearing a sandwich-board advertising a "Monster Sale" at some department store.

I guess you had to see it to get it.

Sounds like a deprived childhood.  The Godzilla movies were the best. The three remakes sucked.

You forgot the whole Millennium series.  There are a total of 29 Japanese movies in the series through last year's Godzilla: Resurgence

-Greg

Michael,

You are one lucky guy!  Great looking model!

You can never go wrong with dinosaurs, and having one as an opponent for Godzilla to battle is always a classic touch.  Actually, any opponent will do. As the monsters duke it out, there's lots of cars, bridges, signs, and things that can get under foot. And, of course, there's always an elevated subway train zipping by in the background destined to derail.

I sometimes "toy" with the idea of getting the Lionel zombie family set (just the folks next door) or maybe straying into aliens.  But they may be visually too small to stand up to the great Godzilla-san.  So, yeah, I'm back to thinking that 'you can never go wrong with dinosaurs'.

Have fun, you lucky guy. OH! And don't forget the police/military/news helicopters!  Yah gotta have those! And the powerlines and telephone wires ... and the water dam that's about to break ...

To me the best shot was godzilla coming ashore in 1984.The army had gotten a lot better hitting the target. Then his back lights up firing his atomic breath he takes them out.

With the out of sequence mouth movements and voices! Don't forget the gentler Si-Fi characters.

I was disappointed when I opened this thread up to read it. After all the subject line conjures up images of an angry wife swinging a sledgehammer into the husband's layout which is the very definition of  DESTROY!     Instead I read about a little rubber monster figure which is not what I had in mind...

Well think about it. Godzilla has leveled most of Tokyo a least a half dozen times, not to mention other major Japanese cities. So if you were given Godzilla. Rodan , or Mothra  what would you think.
