Does anyone have a good source for PS 3.0 parts besides MTH?  I purchased a PS 3.0 board on Ebay and the seller assured me that he sold me everything I need to do an install.  It arrived without the 8 pin connector or heat sink which provides power or the heat sink.  He did however provide several other parts that I needed at no cost so I cannot complain too much but without the 8 pin harness or heat sink I cannot install this thing.  I am still trying to reach the seller but I have had no luck as of now so I thought I had better prepare for the worse and seek out the parts which I do not mind paying for since I got the PS 3 at a great price. If anyone has any sources out there or has a PS 3 board that went out but still has the cables would be great.  I appreciate any help or guidance.

ebay is not a good place to buy boards.  I feel if someone lost a board they would not deep six the locomotive.  Ebay is full of people that will screw you.  What were you going to use the board for?  Do you know if the board is any good.  Have you had a tech put it in his tester to let you know?  If you got it for short money I can see you taking the chance.

This sounds like you may be doing a diesel.  The heat sink does not provide power.  Where did that come from?  MTH has heat sinks, I buy them often.  You do not need the MTH heat sink.  Fabricate your own.  What is this going into?  Did you get the LED bulbs?  How about the tach bracket and tach reader?

I would contact GGG as he can help you.

It is going in an MTH F3 that used to have Protosound 2.  I have the tax tape on the flywheel along with the tac holder.  I have LEDs so that isn't a problem either.  I did think about fabricating my own heatsink I have plenty of materials I could use.  The seller did contact me and said he had a 8 pin harness bubut didn't say he was going to send it. He rudows conversions for a living. I have nowhere to take it around where I live so I will just have to wait if I ever get it installed. Do you know if the heatsink needs to be mounted to the frame or just the rectifier?

Correct John, I thought he might have it as he did not list it as missing parts.  Before he goes anywhere with this I feel he should get the board checked out.  I am sure you will agree on that.  I hope he does not think he can use the slave in the rest of an aba set.  We do not know what he is trying to get done.  My guess is he is doing just a single A unit.

Well, I figured with the other misconceptions of what the eBay purchase was, maybe the slipped a PS/2 tach reader in as well.   Yes Marty, checking the board out seems like a really good first step.  Of course, it's easy for you and I to say, we have the tester.

I know after putting a few of the 1mm contacts on, that's not my favorite job!  I'll be in trouble when I run out of the extra wires from PS/3 diesel upgrades, I take all the extras out that aren't used.  If you don't remove the extras, the wiring is even more of a mess than it is with just what you're using!
