New Atlas O Maxi IV Articulated Well Car

I put ball bearing trucks on the 5 car stack sets and they roll fantastic! They don't require any effort to move.

I imagine it's too late and would probably change the price if Atlas were to use actual bearings in their trucks. It is a great upgrade. I wish O scale would start using bearings and at least offer them as upgrades. There are some great rolling trucks without them but they don't have the detail of scale spinning caps that I know of??

The Protocraft trucks, if thats the one's you used, although super ( I own many sets) are incorrect for the Atlas Gunderson set, I recall from examination of the prototypes (not the rebuilds) that they are fitted with ASF's not the Barber s2's that the Protocraft ones are modelled on. I look forward to someone doing the ASF series in brass with bearings.

Right On David! I too have that set and added the BN White Stripped version too!

I like the metal cars, I have pulled a 50' train of the first run husky stacks with 2 locos upfront and 2 mid train and had no problems.

KB, that would be an awesome train to see!  Do you have any video?

No traction tires, I did have to give it a shove on the first run of the day , but I think now if I would have tuned the loco dcc chips I may have not had to touch it.

That was a few years ago, no video, in a few more weeks I should have the outer loop of my layout running so I can shoot some then. my outer loop is 99.25 " radius total run is approx. 84'
