I used that approach with a smaller tree base. The tree was around 3 1/2' tall, LED light. I didn't like the large base with the light supply for the fiber optics. I bored a whole in the table and put the base under the table. I attached it with pipe hanger strapping. Then, only the trunk of the tree protruded through the table.

 

Perhaps you could make a riser for the tree stand under the table and just drop the trunk through a hole in the table into the base the same way. Depends on how much clearance will result to the first set of branches.

 

I definitely like the trains off of the floor.

Well back from Fla and the Elf's have taken the garage over for the big train build..So question..on the bottom there shows red as to be 1.38..but I can't figure out how many??? I think only 2??? also is 036 22.5 is that a half a turn of a 036??  Thanks.  When I get it on the saw horses and the track layed out I will post pictures...
