Hi,

Just hooked up my new MTH monorail with PS3. It jerks going around the track. When I spin the gears, there is a spot where the motor is binding up. Does this sound like a bad motor mechanism??? I am missing something simple or does this have to go back to MTH.

Thanks,

Bob

It can be very frustrating to find something binding. I have a PA that did the same thing. One of the motor shafts was slightly bent causing binding. I sent the faulty motor back and received a new one. Problem solved...not exactly. It was still binding, though not as bad. One of the wheels was slightly out of square with the axle shaft causing it to very slightly contact the sideframe. Straightened the wheel, repositioned the sideframe, problem solved. I've learned at my real job, that sometimes you have to look at multiple areas to track down a problem. You may get very deep into this. If it is new and you don't feel comfortable, you should send it back. I don't think they will honor the warranty if you've already started working on it yourself.
